i did not do the engine work, it was a long block from import parts pro with brand new lifters, reconditioned heads, and new pistons, bearings and rings! motor was delivered assembled. As far as me not knowing vg motors, don't speak of my knowings or not knowings, I have work on many z's other than my own. As you can read in my post as soon as I heard the noise i shut the car off, i was pulling in my driveway when it happened so it literally had no time to burn the oil and smoke out the pipes.
